Guns and Tools

There are so many discussions going on right now in my social network about guns and gun laws.
I have been inundated with all variety of responses on this topic, but there have been few people who are so eager to defend gun laws and gun restrictions in the USA as the journalist (I use this term loosely) who redefines gun laws in other countries in order to suit his own highly liberal and fascist agenda.
I was reading a blog that I used to frequent often, and the author of the blog gave a whole bunch of excuses why we should bow to his king Obama on gun laws and restrictions.
This is the one comment that got me furious:
- "“Switzerland has mandatory firearms ownership and low gun deaths!” – Yes, and every man is conscripted into the military and trained extensively with that weapon. Plus, Switzerland has been moving away from having people keep them in the homes and placing them in depots."
This is from someone who defines himself as a journalist, who gets PAID to do the work he does in journalism, and in fact even has several helpers that research facts for him.
Its no wonder they all lost their paying professional jobs in journalism recently, because this fact could not be further from the truth.
You can see that he references an article (of this article, there are no sources for the information) placing them in depots
You only need to look at the comments on this blog post to see the truth, but I will also link a few references for the sources as well:
This lady is wrong. Switzerland has over 4 million guns owned by citizens with a total population of about 8 million. That's the third highest gun-ownership in the world behind Yemen and the U.S. Also, she refers to a "movement" away from widespread gun ownership. This is also false. She is talking about a recent vote where gun-control groups pushed to ban military rifles from being kept in homes, instead they compromised and decided on only keeping the military ammo in "depots" like this lady mentioned. However, this doesn't affect citizens guns, just the military issued ammo. As for the rest of her nonsense, she is very vague and makes a lot of assumptions that seem to be fueled by her bias. She really offers no conclusive evidence. The only hard statistics she offers are in reference to "weekend" suicides by Israeli soldiers. The problem with that is that there are so many other factors that can change the suicide rate on weekends. Looks to me as she is a professor of nothing but gun-control propaganda. "
Now back to REALITY. The fact is that every Swiss house has a government issued assault rifle in it. That is how it is.
Now here are my sources for anyone who gives a hoot about reality and truth.

When thinking about the mass extermination camps of a holocaust think..
The key to freedom is to be able to have the ability to defend yourself &, if you dont have the tools to do that, then youre going to be at the mercy of whomever wants to put you away.
Guns are deeply rooted within Swiss culture - but the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept.
The country has a population of six million, but there are estimated to be at least two million publicly-owned firearms, including about 600,000 automatic rifles and 500,000 pistols.
This is in a very large part due to Switzerland's unique system of national defense, developed over the centuries.
Instead of a standing, full-time army, the country requires every man to undergo some form of military training for a few days or weeks a year throughout most of their lives.
Between the ages of 21 and 32 men serve as frontline troops. They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home.
Once discharged, men serve in the Swiss equivalent of the US National Guard, but still have to train occasionally and are given bolt rifles. Women do not have to own firearms, but are encouraged to.
Update 28th December 2010:
Out of nearly 3 million views of this video there are 4358 thumbs up to 427 thumbs down. So, you could say, if any of us lived in any sort of real democracy in this world that would mean that only one in every ten people would like to keep gun control laws. Guess this means that we're not and that the tyrants still have all the real power.

Then this so-called journalist has the nerve to say this:
"“We have a 2nd Amendment to beat back a tyrannical gov’t!” – Great! So, how well did all those guns stop the Patriot Act, workplace drug testing, warrantless wiretapping, the NDAA, and other examples of gov’t tyranny? Ask a busted pot farmer or Bradley Manning how well those guns beat back a tyrannical government. And then after you’ve finished cleaning your AR-15, watch this rad-r.us/Y2rXrM and this rad-r.us/Y2rYfp and this rad-r.us/Y2rXrN and explain how your AR-15 beats those back. Unless you think “bear arms” in the 2nd includes tactical nukes, predator drones, and anti-aircraft batteries, we’re fucked if the “tyrannical government” wants us."
I don't know if he has brain damage, or if he is just being coy. But the point of an armed rebellion is not necessarily to defend against paper and pens, but armed soldiers. How many holocausts has this prevented? Well, that is the point! We don't know how many holocausts our guns have prevented. But one thing IS sure, is Hitler and other fascists de-armed their citizens right before a holocaust!
The "lets give up" attitude that the USA has these days never ceases to amaze me. Where would the American revolution ended up without guns? We would be a province of England, and subject to a powerful monarchy. Just think if England had kept their original plan of taxing the crap out of America, without representation. Dontchya think that the monarchy would be all the more powerful?
I have more to say on this, but I feel that it will only get more negative as this type of idiocy really upsets me.
Finally this IS the best testimony on why we need to defend the second amendment!
